Northwest Container Services, under contract with the Port of Pasco, operates
an Intermodal Transportation Facility located at the Big Pasco Industrial Center in
Pasco, Washington. The facility ships agricultural products produced in southeast Washington
bound for Asian markets. Primary commodities include hay cubes, whey, wheat, onion, and other,
mostly agricultural, products.
The terminal is served by barge and Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad. The terminal handles
over 4200 containers yearly and offers transportation links to the Columbia River, Burlington Northern
Santa Fe mainline, and State Highway 395. The Port maintains 1000 feet of wharfage at a 15' depth,
a 45-ton capacity Manitowoc 4100 crawler crane, and provides an ample supply of electrical hook ups for
refrigerated containers. The facility has 1200 feet of rail, a 40-ton capacity Hyster masted stacker and
a 49-ton capacity Terex and a substantial pool of "for lease" containers which support the immediate needs
of rail and ocean carriers. The facility is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For additional
