Container Terminal 18

Terminal 18 completed a major expansion in the spring of 2002. T-18 is the Port's largest container terminal and one of the largest in North America. Redevelopment of adjacent property doubled the size of the terminal. Financing of the $300-million expansion was provided by the sale of special facility bonds backed solely by lease payments. This saved the Port $60 million in capital capacity that can be used to help finance other important projects.

Other improvements include a new 16-lane truck gate with state-of-the-art optical character recognition technology, new terminal buildings, additional container yard acreage, a stronger pier apron and a new fender system.
